Company – Baseball Research and Development
Job Description
As part of the Baseball Research and Development Department, the associate will work on dedicated projects to deliver research and tools to improve decision making. A member of the Baseball Research and Development team will experience and learn while collaborating with other departments across all Baseball operations.
Core duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Work with Baseball R&D and Baseball Operations to understand analytical needs and implement best practices to meet those needs.
- Investigate emerging data sources and identify the potential for predictive value and actionable insights for better decision making
- Visualizations and other tools are being developed to disseminate analytical results to Baseball Operations, including consideration of less technically and analytically inclined consumers.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) or be currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field from a four-year college or university. An advanced degree or current pursuit of an advanced degree in one of the areas listed above or from a related field is desired.

The opportunity will be given to work on new and innovative research problems and with cross-functional personnel to see the implementation. Associate – Baseball Systems
Job Description
As part of the Baseball Systems department, this role will work closely with the Data Engineering and Software Engineering groups to enhance existing tools and processes and build new ones using technologies that bridge multiple machine disciplines.
Core duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Investigate user data for quality data in areas such as game statistics, scouting reports and transactions. Diagnose and fix the issue(s).
- Upload new records from vendors into internal databases and make the data available to users.
- Develop user interface (UI) components using front-end technology, providing user-friendly design.
The ideal candidate will be currently enrolled pursuing a bachelor’s degree (BA) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field from a four-year college or university; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The baseball system is the backbone of Baseball Operations. We provide data and decision-making tools to analysts, coaches, and first-team personnel to help win the World Series. Our department consists of a team of database and system engineers who work across all the various aspects of Baseball’s operations to provide support and tools relevant to each group. We work directly with stakeholders in every category of Baseball Operations, so every strategy we work on drives value and helps us win more games on the field. We help drive technical innovation to find new ways to solve baseball’s problems.
