Minor League Update: Return of Roby

Welcome to the Minor League Update. The minor league season involves playoff action. Because of the hunger for games, this will cover the whole week, and close the season before the winter leagues return. Here’s who made waves last weekend:

hitter of the weekend

Anthony Anderson, 3B/1B, Boston Red Sox (AFL Mesa); 2-7, 2 HR, 3 BB, 2 R, 5 RBI.
Anderson looks like a premium “good guy in uniform” for a minute, a designation that can of course range from an interesting observation to a passive insult, depending on the context. It goes back to the former here – the former Atlanta prep third-rounder had to repeat at High-A Greenville at the age of 21, but he improved a lot there (.273/.373/.453) and hit at least one ball harder than 115 mph in Arizona.

Urn weekend

Tekoah Roby, RHP, St. Louis Cardinals (AFL Peoria); 3 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 6 K, 1 BB.
That third-rounder’s minor-league career was truly an odyssey—as I recall (no, but you might) the former Pensacola prep was a hair’s breadth from the majors when he went down for Tommy John surgery in the summer of 2025. TK is back, though, and the stuff looks great with 90s heat, curves and oomph. If Roby can get his innings back on track, he’s in for an elusive big league debut.
