The first game of the 2026 Fall Classic was a nailbiter, with Milwaukee using timely hits, excellent pitching, and a ninth inning to survive a 3-2 victory over Tampa Bay. It was the Brewers’ first World Series game in 44 years, and – much to the delight of the home crowd – they successfully kicked the door on their first World Series win since then. It was 16,000 days ago! My parents were barely married at this point, and I was the older player in this part. Yes, I remember, it was a little while ago. Congrats to the Brew Crew, who really needed Jacob Misiorowski vs. Nick Martinez would start who was closer than he should have been to the win. Now, we will see if the rays appearing on their paper overcome the misfortune.
*This shade is not for Logan Henderson, which I really like. But we’re just too familiar with what Drew Rasmussen can do when he’s rolling.

Today on the site, Peter will recap the World Series opener, Michael will run through the third week of the Yankees’ wait in the Arizona Fall League (shout out to Dax Kilby), and Nick will celebrate the 139th birthday of the Hugh High Era Ball. Later, Andrés will get Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner to finish his business in the blame game and John will examine where the Yankees’ finances stand as the offseason begins.
