Welcome to the Minor League Update. The minor league season involves playoff action. Because of the hunger for games, this will cover the whole week, and close the season before the winter leagues return. Here’s who made waves this week;
Hitter of the Week
Tai Peete, OF, St. Louis Cardinals (AFL Peoria); 6-9, 4 R, 3 2B, 2 3B, RBI, BB, 3 SB.
After Peete’s recently discovered illness zapped some physicals and sidelined him for nearly two and a half months, he quickly returned, hitting for both average and power through the three levels while delivering a top-notch defense in the outfield. He carried that hot bat into the Fall League, where he emerged as one of the starters, hitting .341/.426/.634 through his first 10 games. If Peete continues to step up to enter 2027, he could be firmly in the mix to compete for a common center field position in St. Louis.
Urn of the Week
Justin Lamkin, LHP, Kansas Royals (AFL Surprise); 4.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K.
Lamkin was seen as a top safety first coming out of Texas A&M in 2025, and he looked well on his way up the ladder quickly before a shoulder issue shut him down in late-May. He is healthy again and is working to expand his arsenal this offseason by adding to his breaking ball repertoire.
