As the coach prepares for the start of the college basketball season, we’ll give you an indication of what this team is all about right away. I don’t want to go out on a limb and say that if the Chiefs lose two extra-conference games, they aren’t the team we hope they are, but we should at least know where they stand against some of the best teams in America.
The benefit of the Chiefs playing this type of non-conference schedule is that everyone knows it’s going to be a business against at least some of these teams.

If the Chiefs can walk away with at least two big-out-of-conference wins, they should find themselves in the best position to be the top seed in March’s NCAA Tournament. Based on how the rest of the year is going to look, there is a lot of hope that this will be the best team in America.
As for whether Duke is the best team on its field, North Carolina basketball is always the strongest. Teams like North Carolina are blue-bloods, Wake Forest is unlucky, NC State doesn’t want to be a bad team, and the other half-majors aren’t half bad, either.
But when we talk about college basketball, we talk about Duke. That’s especially true when it comes to being the best team in North Carolina. CBS recently named the leader the best program in the country, and it’s almost impossible to disagree.
“Jon Scheyer flew past the expectation bar with Mike Krzyzewski in 2022. He was left to do nothing else in April to Monday night. The captain is more comfortable again in the preseason top five horses, while North Carolina starts again with Michael Malone and, perhaps, with a notch or two below their rivals on the road to Tobacco in 2026-27.

“I have NC State slightly ahead of Wake Forest in the Tar Heel hierarchy, followed by UNC Wilmington,” CBS wrote of the best team in North Carolina.
From top to bottom, Duke has accomplished everything, much of his existence to the highest degree.
Even if we go back to when NIL wasn’t a thing, the argument was that the guide was a better system than it is now.
Unfortunately, for the Blue Devils, they didn’t get the national championship under coach Jon Scheyer, but he put himself and his team in the state year in and year out. That figures to be no different this season, as Duke has one of the best rosters in America, if not the top one.
