2027 Free Agent Tracker is now live! There are now 244 players on the roster, with more to be added after the postseason concludes and teams begin to clear space on their 40-man rosters. The tracker will be updated regularly throughout the offseason as qualifying offers (and then accepted or rejected) and free agents find their new homes.
Unlike previous years, we had players with contract options pending or opt-outs on the initial free agent list. To avoid confusion, there is an Option Type label displayed next to each player’s name, as well as a separate “FA Likelihood” column (my estimate), to easily filter out the likes of free agents like Ronald Acuña Jr. (The Braves have a club option, putting him in the “Not Happening” group) and include players like Nick Martinez (with the mutual option of “Probably FA in”).
“Not likely,” “Maybe FA,” “Maybe not FA,” and “Tossup” are the categories of the “FA Likelihood” column. Any questions about these determinations can be sent to me via Twitter or Bluesky or via email. I will be happy about my assessment.
You can filter the tracker by status (signed/unsigned), previous team, and team signing, and export the data for your analysis. You can also search by player equity, age, and 2026 WAR. Not long after the end of the 2027 project, the War Tracker will be added as the results of our most frequent annual contract plan, which includes the median total contract, years and average estimated annual value;
As previously mentioned, players with options or an opt-out clause are now included in the Tracker. Options typically cannot be exercised or revoked until five days after the end of the World Series. Players who exercise their option or choose not to exercise will have their opt-out removed.
In past years, the details of the contract (2027 salary, purchase amount, etc.) have been included in this post. However, in addition to the team’s salary pages, these details are now available on our sports pages. You can click on “contract history” under the RösterResource section of the player’s page to see the details of the player’s contracts:
