THE RAINIERS: Look to win the series against El Paso with a victory tonight…Tacoma won Friday night’s game 9-4, scoring eight runs in the fourth inning to cruise to victory…Tacoma scored in the first inning as Ryan Bliss led off the game with a walk, stole second and an errant throw sent him to third, scoring on a Leo Rivas single to make it 1-0…after El Paso plated three runs in the fourth, the Rainiers sent 11 to the plate in the bottom of the inning, getting a, RBI single from Miles Mastrobuoni, a bases-loaded walk from Rivas to tie the game, a two-run single from Andy Ibáñez to put Tacoma on top, capped off with a Nolan Jones grand slam to make it a 9-3 game…Jhonathan Díaz logged a quality start, allowing three runs over 6.0 innings of work, earning his eighth win of the season…El Paso scored one more run in the eighth, but that was all as Tacoma took a 9-4 victory.
RAINIERS AWARD WINNERS: The Tacoma Rainiers announced their 2026 team award winners on Saturday…RHP Gabe Mosser, who ranks in PCL’s top five of ERA, WHIP, innings pitched and opposing batting average, was tabbed the Starting Pitcher of the Year, while Victor Labrada, who led the team with 52 walks, recorded 20 steals in 26 attempts and over 100 hits was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Year, Ryan Bliss, who led the team with five different defensive positions played and set a career-high with a .984 fielding percentage was named the defensive player of the year and both Bliss and Patrick Wisdom were given the Community Service Award.
NOLAN KNOCKS THEM IN: OF Nolan Jones hit the fourth grand slam of his career on Friday night, marking Tacoma’s sixth of the season…in the last two weeks (since August 29) Jones leads the PCL with 16 RBI and is tied for the lead with five home runs, ranking third with 29 total bases…over his last 13 games, Jones is hitting .283 (15×53) with a .910 OPS.

IBÁÑEZ IN THE ZONE: INF Andy Ibáñez picked up another multi-hit game on Friday, driving in a pair of runs and extending his hitting streak to nine games…over his nine-game streak, Ibáñez is hitting .381 (16×42) with one double, one home run and 10 RBI… Ibáñez has tallied a hit in 15 of his last 17 games dating back to August 22, hitting .319 (22×69) in that time…since the start of September, Ibáñez is tied for the third-most hits in the PCL with 16 and tied for the fourth-most RBI with 10, ranking 10th in the league with a .356 average.
GARCIA’S GOT IT GOING: RHP Nick Garcia threw 1.1 innings of scoreless relief on Wednesday, lowering his ERA to 2.72 (53.0 IP/16ER)…among PCL pitchers with at least 35 appearances this season, Garcia’s 2.72 ERA is the best, ranking eighth with his 62K/21BB ratio…the 27-year-old has been even better at Cheney Stadium, sporting a 1.32 ERA in 20 outings at home this year, allowing just four earned runs in 27.1 innings, the best home ERA for a PCL pitcher (min. 20G), and the fourth-best in Triple-A…since June 24, Garcia has not given up a run in 21 of his last 24 appearances.
WORDS OF WISDOM: INF Patrick Wisdom hit a walk-off home run on Tuesday, his 33rd of the season with Tacoma, building on a career-high in affiliated baseball (Wisdom hit 35 last year with the Kia Tigers in the KBO)… Wisdom is the second Triple-A hitter since 2005 to tally three 30-homer campaigns, joining Mike Hessman, who hit 31 in 2007, 34 in 2008 and 35 in 2012…Wisdom is the fifth player in franchise history to hit 33 HR in a single season, here is how his stats stack up against the others:

WINNING WAYS: The Rainiers have won 15 of their last 19 games since August 21 and have 24 wins in their last 33 games since August 5…since August 5, Tacoma’s 24 wins are the second-most in Triple-A…Tacoma owns a .667 winning percentage since August 1, which currently ranks as the club’s best winning percentage after August 1 in a season since the 2008 Rainiers went 23-8 from August 1 through the end of the year, a .742 winning percentage.
LEO LIVES ON BASE: INF Leo Rivas extended his on-base streak to 24 games with a single in the first inning on Friday, the second-longest on-base streak by a Rainiers player this season…Rivas has stretched his streak across three different stints with Tacoma (May 22-31, July 17-28 and August 27-c), reaching base at a .461 clip in that span, working 26 walks to 26 strikeouts…among PCL players with at least 100 plate appearances this season, Rivas leads the league with a 21.7% walk rate (per FanGraphs).
HOMER HAPPY: The Rainiers hit another home run on Friday, putting them at 190 on the season, the most in the PCL and the fifth-most in Triple-A…Tacoma has hit 16 more home runs than the next-closest PCL team (Albuquerque – 174) and if they finish with the most, would be the first time leading the league in home runs for a season since the 2015 season with 148 home runs, which led all Triple-A teams that season…2026 would mark the fourth time since 2005 that the Rainiers have paced the PCL in home runs (also: 2009 – 166 and 2010 – 185)…Tacoma’s 190 home runs this season are already the most in a single season since hitting 214 in 2023.
MARINERS UPDATE: The Mariners were walked off by the Athletics, 6-5 in 10 innings on Friday…Lazaro Montes went 1-for-3 with a pinch-hit, two-run home run in the loss.
