California race loses 50-60 bikes after structure fire

As many as 60 golf clubs were destroyed after a structure fire at a Sacramento golf course.

Teal Bend Golf, located near the Sacramento airport, had vehicles in storage overnight. Firefighters responded at 2 a.m. to the scene.

TV station ABC-10 interviewed a firefighter who described how the fire site became hazmat, with air quality monitoring, because the golf carts all had lithium-ion tanks.

Firefighters ran into uncertainty on arrival, as there were no hydrants available. ABC-10 reports that they then had access to a pump near Natomas Waters.

There is no known cause of the fire. On its website, Teal Bend, which opened in 1997, is described as “Sacramento’s premier public course, with 18 holes boasting 250 acres of natural wetlands, native trees, beautiful fairways and rolling greens.”
