Derrin Horton was hired as the Los Angeles Lakers’ new general manager on Thursday, October 1.
Horton will get the job done at the Lakers’ home games at Crypto.com Arena. It will be a familiar face to some, having worked at the gym for over 35 years.

Horton served as an anchor, reporter, entertainer and sports announcer covering various sports during his career.
The Eagles will announce their first preseason game against the Sacramento Kings on Thursday, Oct. 8.
Horton will replace Lawrence Tanter, who left on Sept. 23.

“There’s no way you can fill his shoes,” Horton told the media. “And so you came here with passion and the goal of being informative and entertaining and be a part of Showtime.”
That’s more than 43 seasons with the Lakers. He sustained the injury on March 17 and missed the next six regular season games at home and the postseason. He announced his retirement in June and was expected to transition to a sports advisory role.
