The King of New York — Knicks Finals MVP Jalen Brunson — premiered season 53 Saturday Night Live, and Brunson showed off some laid-back comedy.
Of course, some of Brunson’s friends were there — Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges and Brunson’s usual comedy sidekick, Josh Hart — and were part of the monologue.
My personal favorite Brunson skit of the night was a High School Musical take-off. Brunson is the new kid at school and is rejected by the basketball team until Jeremy Culhane invites Jake in – and then Brunson’s skills show Jake up. So Jake says he wants to focus on theater, but Brunson beats him to that too — and gets his girl.
Brunson was also involved in a funny office scene where a wadded-up bra can’t be thrown in the trash, but he doesn’t stop and apologize for why there’s one more second on the clock. Then he reveals himself to be Jalen Brunson.
