Watch: Texas A&M freshman F scores a one-handed touchdown pass

The Texas A&M basketball program is in good hands under coach Bucky McMillan, who will enter his second season at the helm after leading the Aggies to the NCAA Tournament, which was the program’s fourth consecutive appearance going into the Buzz Williams era. Led by a scrappy roster built out of the transfer gate, McMillan and his staff added seven talented transfers this offseason.

On Thursday, Texas A&M officially opened preseason practice, and McMillan spoke to the media for the first time to share several updates on the revamped roster, including the potential return of guard Rylan Griffin and the addition of Texas transfer guard Jordan Pope.

Rylan Griffin, who averaged 8.6 points and shot 40% from beyond the arc with the Aggies last season, re-enrolled this offseason and is expected to play for the Aggies, but will await a preliminary injury hearing on Monday that will determine his eligibility to play this fall.

McMillan also confirmed that former G-Acadei guard Bryson Warren entered the transfer window after his eligibility was denied, making the addition of Jordan Pope even more important. On a roster that includes transfers guards PJ Haggerty, Jalen Reese, and Tyshawn Archie, freshman guard Neiko Mundey and freshman forward Josh Irving are too good to keep in the draft.
