Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen has revealed that Harry Kane’s expected contract extension is nearing completion, with the major issues already resolved and only the legal details remaining.
As reported by KickerDreesen was confirmed on Wednesday evening, after Bayern’s emphatic 6-1 DFB-Pokal victory over 1. FC Magdeburg, that the Bundesliga champions have agreed with their star striker even before Monday’s Ballon d’Or ceremony.

“We are working through the details,” explained Dreesen, according to Kicker. “That simply takes a few days. It is customary for lawyers to exchange finer points with each other. Already before the Ballon d’Or ceremonies, we discussed and discussed all the important issues.”
The development represents another significant step towards securing Kane’s long-term future in Munich. The current England captain’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, with Bayern set to extend his stay for some time beyond that date.
Dreesen’s latest comments indicate that the substantive negotiations have already been completed, although the agreement has yet to be formally signed and announced.
Dreesen emphasizes Bayern’s desire to keep Kane
Dreesen also thought of the big negotiations required to bring Kane to Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023. The Bayern executive would be personally involved in obtaining the most expensive transfer in Bundesliga history.

The CEO suggested that the discussions surrounding Kane’s extension were similarly intensive, involving the striker’s father and brother.
“There were naturally many conversations with Kane’s father and brother back then, and this is how it is now too,” explained Dreesen in a comment, reported by Kicker. “But we both know how long we want to extend this arrangement.”
Bayern’s intention to retain Kane is not surprising. The England captain has established himself as the club’s point of attack since arriving from Tottenham, combining extraordinary goalscoring consistency with an increasingly important creative role.
The details of the latest 33-year-old stand-alone event confirmed. Kane claimed the 2026 Ballon d’Or on Monday evening, becoming the first Englishman to win the award since Michael Owen in 2001.

The Ballon d’Or winner rested before Dortmund’s clash
Kane was given the evening as Bayern were comfortably dispatched by Magdeburg in the second round of the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday. Meanwhile, head coach Aaron Danks explained that the decision followed discussions with the striker about his recent workload.
“I talked to him,” Danks told reporters. “He’s been doing a lot lately.”
Ismael Saibari scored a goal for Kane in a central attacking position and helped Bayern progress with a comprehensive 6-1 victory.
Danks had already spoken enthusiastically about his compatriot’s unique recognition earlier in the week. As GGFN Reported following Tuesday’s pre-match press conference, the English coach expressed his happiness when Kane was rewarded for his actions while highlighting the striker’s quick refocus on his responsibilities.
