American Fork wide receiver Cash Taiese was among the recruits in attendance for Utah’s matchup against Kansas on Saturday. The visit gave Taiese another chance to see the program up close, and he came away impressed with what he saw.
“What stood out was how much the coaches talked to me and how crazy the crowd was,” Taiese told me.

One of the biggest takeaways from his visit was the Utah offense and the success the Utes had in Devon Dampier and Byrd Ficklin at quarterback.
“They had a great job, and what caught my attention was how successful they were with the two quarterbacks,” Taiese said.
Taiese also had the opportunity to speak with both quarterbacks during that time. Discussions include the Utah offense and how the season was handled on both sides.
With Kevin McGiven running the offense, Utah continued to find creative ways to use their weapons, something that seems to have caught the attention of Taiese recruits.

“Utah is headed in a really good direction and being really creative with their offense,” Taiese said.
Between the atmosphere at Rice-Eccles Stadium, his conversations with the coaching staff, and what he saw on offense, Taiese left the Salt Lake City Utes with a definite impression.
Utah hosts numerous visitors, including Taiese on Saturday. It was a decent weekend to have recruits on campus. The game was postponed because of the weather. But those are the only downers you can use.
The game itself, Utah took care of business to stay in the perfect period with a 41-24 win over Kansas. This is the first time in 30 years that the Jayhawks have traveled to Salt Lake City. He used a consistent approach, finishing with 287 rushing yards, 258 passing yards and going a perfect 5-for-5 in the red zone.

Wayshawn Parker finished with 171 rushing yards and two touchdowns, but it was his impact late in the game that really stood out. He solved tackles, relegating the critical first ranks, and putting the offense on his back when Utah needed it most.
Parker had a 90 yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Kansas’ defense had no answer all night for Utah. The Utes offense has another successful matchup in Colorado on Saturday. The Buffaloes have one of the worst defenses in the country.
Taiese could be the next big receiving threat for McGiven and the Utes offense. Time will tell if staying at home will be part of his football future.
