Former UFC fighter Colby Covington believes UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev should just retire from the UFC.
Makhachev recently came out and said he only has limited time left in MMA, saying his title defense next year against the winner of the UFC 336 co-main event between Carlos Prates and Michael Morales for the interim UFC welterweight title will be among his last fights.

The fact that Makhachev has already seemingly fought his way out of the door makes Covington feel like he should retire now if he feels that way already.
Colby Covington is not sure Islam Makhachev will fight again
Speaking to Submission Radio, Covington openly questioned whether Makhachev was actually going to fight or not considering his recent comments.
“Don’t ever fight again. When you make the comment that you’re half-footed, half-footed in, maybe you should leave now. You shouldn’t go back to the Octagon. Honestly, that’s probably a trade deal, I’ll be honest. Maybe that’s what he’s doing publicly with the UFC, like, ‘Hey, be next, it’s enough for me if you quit. just in the morning,'” Covington said.
How many fights does Islam Makhachev have left in MMA?
Based on these recent comments, Makhachev feels that there is not much time left in MMA and his next title fight will be against the winner of Prates vs. Morales could really be the last to fight.

The fact that Makhachev didn’t want to fight in January at UFC 336 against Prates proved enough that he doesn’t feel like he has much time left in the MMA game, which is disappointing given he’s one of the greatest MMA fighters on the planet.
But with almost everything there is to do in this game, it’s only fair that he thinks he’s going to be at the top, which doesn’t usually get better once you get to a certain age when your chin starts to crack after so many years of punishment from having so many fights inside the Octagon.
