Free agency begins five days after the end of the World Series. As in other recent seasons, FanGraphs is again facilitating the contract crowd project, with the idea being to combine crowd intelligence to better understand and project the 2026-27 free agent market.
We recently added a few features to these cards based on reader feedback. Now you have the option to tell the player to only receive a minor league contract or not to receive a contract at all. If it’s a player option, a team option, or you opt out of the player’s contract, you’ll be able to indicate whether you think he’ll stay with the current team or become a free agent. The statistics are full of the values of the times when they are recorded. Unless otherwise noted, the BELLVM figures are projected from the first cut of the 2027 Steamer600 projections.
