NEW DELHI – Patrick Reed faces a long wait if he makes the cut in the DP World India Championship after Friday’s game was suspended due to darkness with half the field yet to complete the second round.
Reed, the season-long leader at the Dubai Post, shot a 3-under 69 in the first round and was in even par for the week. That’s where the cut is projected to be at the Delhi Golf Club.

The Americans are eight shots off the club lead held by Angelo Hidalgo (68), Adrian Meronk (69) and Joost Luiten (68). Thomas Detry was also at 8 under in six holes of the second round.
Just as important for Reed were the positions of Eugenio Chacarra and Rory McIlroy — big rivals for the Race to Dubai title — and both were doing well before the hooter sounded and they had to leave the course.
Chacarra followed up his opening 67 by making birdies at No. 1 and 3 and 7 under overall, while McIlroy rolled in a 10-foot eagle on No. He was 1 and 2 under for the round after four holes and 4 under for the week.
The game was suspended at 6:00 p.m. local time due to darkness. The circle will resume on Saturday at 6.45 am.
Thursday’s lightning strike hit a five-hour delay, meaning more than half the field had to finish early on Friday.

Daniel Hillier fired a 64 for the low round of the day and tied for eighth place, two shots off the lead.
