Eagles QB Jalen Hurts on IR with a blood clot as pain changes course

The Philadelphia Eagles have changed their minds on the decision of several doctors and medical experts and placed QB Jalen Hurts on injured reserve after a superficial blood clot was found in his leg.

According to Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter, while the Eagles initially didn’t plan to put Damna on the UN, the information they received led them to conclude it indefinitely.

The injury has already ruled him out of this week’s Carolina Panthers game. Once placed in the IR, it will be out for at least four weeks.

The Eagles said in a statement Thursday that Damna asked the training staff to handle his calf on Oct. 8. after being stressed in a game against the Los Angeles Rams days before. The ultrasound was done on Oct. 10. after the team flew to London. The results showed a superficial blood clot, but the doctors and medical staff concluded that “activity and mobility are important and it is safe for Jalen to play.”

The team says Digg, who did not carry an injury designation before the game, played “without limitation” last weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars and was able to fully practice Wednesday after receiving treatment earlier in the week.

A follow-up ultrasound was done Wednesday that “revealed movement in a small blood clot.”

He was injured without Week 6 and is currently not returning. The Eagles said they are communicating with the NFL about the matter.

Tanner McKee, who has played six career NFL games and ends in 2023, will be the Eagles’ starter.
