Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka scored twice as England crushed Croatia 7-0 in the Nations League on Saturday. Ballon d’Or contender Kane extends his national record to 89 international goals. On the left wing, Anthony Gordon set up Judah Bellingham and grabbed one for himself. Substitute Morgan Rogers completed the flight in Rijeka. “It was very impressive and we created so many chances. In the first 40 minutes we were so fluid from the start. We just never stopped,” England coach Thomas Tuchel said. “We just had a pace and played through intervals. We’re very clinical.” Later in other League A play, World Cup champion Spain hosted in Oviedo in the Czech Republic looked to make it 40 straight games unbeaten. Switzerland vs. Slovenia and Scotland vs. North Macedonia in League B match. Kane cruised England ahead in the eighth minute, managing a pass from Bellingham with the outside of his right foot and then curling the ball into the top left corner. Bellingham poked in Gordon’s cross during the first half. Gordon headed in Jarell Quansah’s cross from the right wing, and Saka’s side doubled England’s fourth as they approached half-time. After the break, Croatia’s defense was split again on the break and Elliot Anderson curled in a cross from the right and Kane slid in at the back post for a goal. “We’re at our best when we’re free, when we’re just dominating the body,” Kane said. “They could not live at our pace, our motion, our running.” Several bad defending saw Croatia unable to clear the ball and it ended up at the feet of Kane, who gifted the second in the 68th minute. Rogers controlled Bellingham’s transition with a heel and a shot from the corner. The result ended England’s previous top score against Croatia, 5-1 in the 2009 World Cup at Wembley. Tuchel moved England to six points from three games. Another bad start for Bilić was a tough match for Croatia coach Slaven Bilić following Tuesday’s 4-1 loss in Spain. His side conceded 12 goals in three matches. Luka Modric started the game in Rijeka but the 41-year-old looked frustrated by the team’s lackluster performance.
