At the end of the profanity-filled postgame speech that aired in Alabama on Saturday night after Georgia football player Kirby Smart said he wished he hadn’t been posted on social media, the Bulldogs’ coach built on that.
“This team, man, you take this and you’re going to grow from it?” The pain was said. “They said the nays couldn’t go there and win, and nobody played.”

Alabama was certainly a level contender, a team the Bulldogs were outmatched all night in a 20-17 victory.
The challenge for Georgia (6-0, 4-0 SEC) this week is to turn the page from an opponent that now feels like a rivalry with many with one that has been one of the biggest and longest in Auburn.
This is 131St* meeting between schools some 180 miles apart.
Auburn (4-2, 1-2) will have a fourth head coach on the sideline since Smart came aboard in Athens.
Paine went up against Gus Malzahn, Bryan Harsin, Hugo Congelo and now he will face Alex Golesh.
The Tigers are ranked No. 33 on ESPN’s SP+, which puts her 11thth* in the SEC and lower than Oklahoma than Georgia three weeks ago.

The Tigers had an open day on the schedule last week, giving players a break from the bulk and coaches evaluating more than getting better.
“They’re coming off a week off, and we’re coming off a really tough physical game,” Smart said. “It’s going to be really important to have the right mindset and approach to the game because they want to make it physical the way they play.”
Georgia vs
Georgia is No. 1 ranking for the first time since September 2024.
At that point, he was upset the day after top-ranked Texas was upset by unranked Oklahoma.

Two other top 15 SEC teams also came down from unranked foes: No. 10 LSU to Kentucky and No. 15 Florida to South Carolina.
Paine alluded to those results when talking about the challenge Auburn presents.
“They have a lot of talent,” Smart said. “The players are good players, and Saturday is a given in this conference, as we see every week.”
Auburn is missing perhaps the most valuable piece.
Linebacker Xavier Atkins, a second-team All-American in 2025, will not play.
Golesh did not disclose why he said he was being kept “in-house” and that his status would be reviewed next week.

AuburnSports reported that Atkins had disciplinary issues centered on being late or missing mandatory meetings and practices.
The Georgian players said putting the last game behind them is just part of what they do.
“We’re trying to stay focused,” linebacker Justin Williams said. “You know you’re not too high or too tight. You’re right in the middle.”
Georgia vs. Auburn scouting report
Why Georgia has an advantage; Auburn quarterback Byron Brown ranks 14th in the SEC in passing efficiency and has as many interceptions as touchdowns with 7 each. “We have the right plan to attack them,” he told reporters in Auburn. The Bulldogs defense limited Alabama to 346 total yards.

Why Auburn has an advantage; The Tigers have been solid on the opposite end, ranking 30th in the nation in passing efficiency defense with 6 interceptions and just 4 touchdown passes against. UCLA transfer Andre Jordan had 2 interceptions. Linebacker Elias Melendez (3 sacks) and Walter Mathis Jr. (2 bags) with Savannah’s help apply pressure.

Prediction
Georgia 37, Auburn 10; Auburn last scored 13 points in a Georgia game in 2009 when Chris Todd was the quarterback. This doesn’t look like a Tigers offense that can change. He scored 21 and 14 in his last two games and ranks 13th in the SEC in scoring.
Georgia vs. Auburn scouting report: What are we looking at?
Georgia they pass by; Georgia racked up four sacks against Alabama, bringing its season total to 17. That’s just three shy of what the Bulldogs recorded last season. Raylen Wilson leads the team with 3, Chris Cole has 2 1/2 and Gabe Harris contributes 2. Cole leads the team with 14 quarterback impressions.

AUREUS’S PEACE: The Tigers tend to break the ball quickly, something that Georgia cornerback Demello Jones has noticed this week. Auburn leads the nation in running a play every 21.5 seconds, the fastest in the nation. “It’s something we need to adjust to,” Jones said. “Just getting us lined up on the defensive side, the execution calls.”
Georgia RB Bo Walker: Georgia is still not at full strength in the backfield. Dwight Phillips carried the load at Alabama with 17 carries for 120 yards, but second-year running back Bo Walker had a career-high 10 for 69 yards. He showed good vision and big-play ability on the day when his longest run was 37 yards. “It brings a lot,” said Philip. “It’s scary too.”
Until the game at Auburn tight end: Jake Johnson, in his fifth college game after Texas A&M and North Carolina, returns home to face Georgia. Johnson is the son of former NFL coach Brad Johnson and the grandson of former Georgia coach Mark Richt. The Oconee County High graduate has 7 catches for 43 yards this season.
Bold predictions for Georgia football vs Auburn
The importance of Georgia’s game on the ground will last; Georgia’s offensive line limited Alabama to one sack last week and paved the way for 206 rushing yards. Auburn is 81st nationally at 149 rushing yards per game and had touchdown runs of 25 and 44 in its last game at Tennessee.

Byrum Brown plays with his feet; The South Florida transfer has more rushing yards per game than any quarterback in the SEC with 68.8 per game and has 4 rushing touchdowns. Byrum is a burden that is down to 6-foot-3 and 235 pounds. He has 19 carries for Tennessee with 107 yards.
Humphreys will continue to be a key target in London: Vanderbilt has four catches in its first four games, the Vanderbilt transfer has 6 catches for 62 yards in the last two weeks including a 20-yard touchdown catch at Alabama from Gunner Stockton.
A golden train, shocked, cracked on the road; In the Auburn game so far this season, the Tigers’ pre-snap team has had four different offensive linemen. The Georgia crowd can cause false starts for the Tigers once again for an offensive line filled with transfers.
