“It’s done”: Michael Carrick outlines Lisandro Martinez’s stance after the United man’s explosive criticism

Lisandro Martinez is available to play for Manchester United at Leeds United this weekend after he apologized for his explosive criticism of the club’s hierarchy, with manager Michael Carrick declaring the saga “done”.

The defender’s technical director Jason Wilcox shouted that the team’s game after the 2-0 defeat of Atletico Madrid on Tuesday was not confirmed and Carrick said that it was not properly based on the transfer market.

The 28-year-old, who signed a contract last summer, then took to social media on Wednesday and acknowledged his comments were made in “anger and frustration” following the defeat in the Spanish capital.

Martinez then apologized on social media following a meeting with Wilcox, CEO Omar Berrada and Carrick on Thursday. “With this situation now behind us, we are fully focused on winning,” said Martinez.

Martinez also reportedly held an interview in the United States and the comments were called “dishonest” by former striker Wayne Rooney, while the Argentina international was blamed for defensive errors during the club’s five-game run in all competitions.

Carrick, though, said Martinez will be in the United squad at Elland Road and described the mood in the dressing room as “really good” ahead of the pressure game against rivals Leeds on Sunday.

“It really happened,” Carrick said on Friday. “We moved on from that. He was one of them. He went out and recognized the situation and we moved forward in the community.

“It’s not a story for us as a group. The boys trained really well, there was a really good feeling around training this morning. A really good feeling.”
