Analyst, Major League Pitching – Research & Development

Location: Kauffman Stadium, One King Street, Kansas City, Missouri, United States of America

Job Summary: The Kansas City Royals are looking for a highly motivated and creative analyst to join their organization. Under the direction of Director of Research & Development, Christine Harris, the analyst in the Major League Clubhouse will be fully integrated into the resources, responses, and ideas of the Major League Pitching group. The successful candidate will combine analytical expertise and clear communication skills to translate baseball data into insights that empower the Royals when our pitchers step onto the mound.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Be a critical thinker for improving resources for developing pitches and game design strategies
  • Constructed delivers deliverable insights to coaches and players
  • Effectively share information with Major League coaches, staff, and players
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis to answer questions that help inform strategic decisions
  • Maintain our processes and pipelines to deliver reports and related data on a daily basis

Requirements:

  • Record baseball research published and or portfolio of technical projects in any domain
  • Strong proficiency with SQL and R for query and data analysis of big data
  • Interpersonal and communication skills cut across the board with the front office, analysts, coaches, players, and other Baseball Operations personnel.
  • Familiarity with modern benchmarking and benchmarking metrics development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Software engineering background with the ability to design and build systems programmatically
  • Building models with great experience sets data to answer research questions
  • Experience as a player, coach, or staff member in a high level sports environment
  • Proficient with HTML and CSS to create and maintain interactive reports or PDFs
  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or related quantitative field

Position Details

  • This position requires full-time travel with the Major League team during Spring Training, the regular season, and the Postseason
  • Relocation to Kansas City is required at the time. But there is no time to put up with revenge.
    • If you relocate full time, you will receive a one-time moving fee
    • If you maintain permanent residence outside of Kansas City, you will receive a monthly living wage over time
  • Travel to Arizona for Major League Spring Training is required
  • Minimal travel required at the time

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to lift items up to 15 pounds
  • He may work in the position of a senior employee
  • It should be produced using a single PC keyboard and phone
  • It is possible to produce in a work environment where the noise level can sometimes be high
  • There should be comfortable walking for navigation, ease of access, office, meeting, etc.
  • Must work extended hours and/or weekends to work around deadlines and business scheduling

Job Summary: The Kansas City Royals are looking for a highly motivated and creative analyst to join their organization. Christine Harris, an analyst working under the direction of the Director of Research & Development, will be fully integrated into the development of the Minor League Player program to strengthen the capabilities of the player to maximize performance. The successful candidate will combine analytical expertise and clear communication skills to translate baseball data into insights that give the Royals an edge when it comes to developing the best baseball talent in the game.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • A player responsible for overseeing and running a development pipeline that delivers data and deliverables to the organization on a daily basis
  • Will be a critical designer to improve resources for player development plans
  • Constructed delivers deliverable insights to coaches and players
  • Effectively share information with Minor League coaches, staff and players
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis to answer questions that help inform player development decisions
