Here’s some good news for captains and Charlotte Hornets fans: Kon Knueppel, who has been sidelined for several weeks with a hamstring injury, is almost back.
The Hornets announced Thursday that they will be sending him to their G League team for practice, which means he will mostly face the front before returning to the Hornets.

He had a sensational rookie season, nearly stealing the Rookie of the Year award from former Duke teammate Cooper Flagg, averaging 18.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. He also broke the previous rookie three-point record of 26, which was set by Keegan Murray, by hitting 273.
Thanks in part to Knueppel, the Hornets had a surprisingly good season last year, but they still made major changes. LaMelo Ball is now a Minnesota Timberwolf. Blue Devil Grayson Allen is now a Hornet, as are Naz Reid, Royce O’Neale, Dennis Schröder, and rookies Hannes Steinbach and Christian Anderson (sometime this season we hope the Charlotte announcers say “Hannes Christian Anderson for a magical play!”
The Hornets undoubtedly want Knueppel back to fill out their rotation and see where things stand, and it won’t be long now.
