Lambeth, who had drawn Mercante in the 1 1/2-mile sycamore field, went wide in the final stretch as he limited the charge and overtook Luis Saez inside the final furlong to win by a length. Votum No, and Humbertus Rispolis third with Sycamore winner, Desvio, fourth in field 12.
Lambeth, 7-1 and a close second in Sycamore Swamp in the McLennan Bowling Green Gold Cup Invitational going 2 1/16 miles last season at Kentucky Downs, improved to 2-for-6 in his season debut on the turf at Keeneland.
Ortiz kept Lambeth, a stakes winner over a 12-furlong distance on dirt in the 2025 Temperance Hill at Oaklawn, to the back of the field with strong first-quarter breaks of :23.61 and :46.88 for the trio of Layabout, Rothschild and English Actor. Layabout took the lead coming out of the second turn, just ahead of Rothschild by 6 furlongs in 1:11.65.
The field piled up towards the halfway pole and into the long stretch, Gold broke away with the lead coming past the mile in 1.38.41 ahead of Layabout, 5-2 second choice Tiz Dashing and 9-5 favorite Just a Touch.

Limited Liability rolled past Touch and Tiz Dashing just before Lambeth, he crossed the fourth pole. Lambeth continued his run and ran past Liability Limits to win in 2:28.08. Votum No finished another 2½ lengths in third with Desvio fourth. Goldeneye, Navy Seal (IRE), Tiz Dashing, Just Touch, Echo Lane, Layabout, English Actor and Rothschild completed the field.
Lamh finished seventh and eighth in his other two turf appearances this season. He improved to 6-for-21 in his career and won $226,300 to bring his bankroll to $906,377.
Lambeth returned $16.98, $8.34 and $5.10. Limited Liability, seventh in the Marsh McLennan Bowling Green Cup Invitational Gold in his last start, returned $11.12 and $7.48. No vote paid $7.64.
