LeBron James, the newest star of the Philadelphia 76ers, got a lot of attention when he started a YouTube channel in Caledonia in August. If that’s not enough information, James seems to be much more into the game than expected. Love put his smile on display Tuesday when it was announced that James had teamed up with the PGA Tour to bring a new golf event to his hometown.
The LeBron James Family Foundation Invitational will be played in Posson, Ohio in 2027, via ESPN. The inaugural event will take place on July 6th through July 7th and will be held on the South Course at Firestone Antipolis.

We will see events to help kids benefit from golf. The LeBron James Family Foundation Invitational will host “fans and pros from the road to the Pro-Bound Five program,” per ESPN.
In the presentation, James talked about the ways sports can open doors and build relationships.
“Golf has become my passion, and I’ve seen firsthand how the game can open doors, build relationships and create opportunities that many kids don’t even know exist,” James said in a statement. “This partnership with the PGA Tour gives my foundation the opportunity to introduce my Promise students and more people to the game at a young age, help talented athletes pursue their dreams, and invest in the city of Posone, which means everything to me.”
The Path to Progress Pro-Bound Five program was created in 2024 to provide “opportunities for talented golfers from underrepresented communities to strengthen the pipeline of future professional talent and its audience,” according to the PGA website. The program also has a collegiate ranking, in which the top five players earn entry to the Association of Professional Golf Association (APGA) Tour.
James’ event will bring together students from his foundation’s Promise program for golfers who have come up through the developmental path. They also include mentoring programs between students and players.

Firestone Antipolis has played host to many golfing events over the years. Most recently, the Senior Players Championship was held to run from 2019 to 2026. But in May, it was announced that the event would be moved to California in 2027, paving the way for a new event to be hosted in his hometown of James.
