Mayweather announced on Sunday that he will return to the boxing ring for a showdown match against Matt “The Jedi” on December 19 in Bangkok, Thailand.
“This lil song in front of me and Ryan Garcia is closing,” said Mayweather, announcing the event on social media.

Mayweather did not go inside the ring because of his rematch with John Gotti III in August 2024, which went the full length of eight rounds with no winner declared.
Australia’s Floyd, 37, was 15-2 as a professional boxer with no wins. He lost a broad decision to former super middleweight champion James DeGale in September 2025 at BKFC, and is coming off a Misfits Boxing win over Antonio Taylor in June.
Garcia, the WBC welterweight champion, stated last month that he and Mayweather have met for a world title in a sanctioned professional fight, which would put Mayweather’s perfect 50-0 record on the line. Mayweather, 49, hasn’t fought professionally in nearly a decade.

Incronatus later reported that the claims were so premature that no serious discussions had taken place between key stakeholders.
Garcia Mayweather was issued an ultimatum on Friday.
“You promised me and I wanted this fight and I agree this fight is great. FEB6th but I fight without reason, if you don’t do this, then that fight is withdrawn.”
Garcia, who has one fight remaining in his contract with Golden Boy and two fights left with DAZN, as of Feb. 6. indeed he is moved – not with Mayweather.
The WBC champion’s team is in advanced talks of having Garcia lined up against WBA (Super) title holder Teofimo Lopez. Uneducated understands the WBA will decide on or around November 7 whether Lopez can take an exception to fight Garcia or if he should fulfill his mandate against Jack Catterall.

The fight between Garcia and Lopez is expected to go ahead in early February — if a deal can be completed — regardless of the WBA’s decision.
Mayweather is also being interrupted by CSI Entertainment in federal court in New York, presenting another roadblock to Mayweather-Garcia — and possibly Mayweather-Floyd as well.
CSI’s legal action ultimately prevented Mayweather from participating in an exhibition with Mike Zambidis in June. CSI claims that it has exclusive rights to Mayweather’s next two fights – against Mike Tyson and then Manny Pacquiao, or another opponent of CSI’s choosing.
