NASCAR action took place after a dramatic altercation at Martinsville Waterfront, involving rising star and 23rd XI Racing’s newest hire, Corey Heim. Denny Hamlin, teammate at 23XI with NBA legend Michael Jordan, called on NASCAR to punish those who were most involved in the fight.
After a run-in with Treyten Lapcevich at the end of the VallisStar Credit Union 300 (Super special model race that is part of the NASCAR Regional)and the more significant contact that followed the checkered flag, Heim met Lapcevich with members of the Chad Bryant Racing (CBR) team. Bryant himself was among those who physically assaulted Heim.

They often hit and knocked Heim by the footsteps of the hound dog, and Heim did not fight back.
Because of the altercation, NASCAR has decided to indefinitely suspend team owner Chad Bryant, and CBR crew member Steven Civitarese for his part in the fight. Additionally, Bryant was fined $2,000 and Civitarese was fined $1,000, both placed on probation for one full year.
NASCAR also announced that Bryant and Civitarese have been suspended from the 2027 edition of the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville.

Additionally, Bryant will have to work through NASCAR’s approved performance management program if he ever wants to be reinstated.
NASCAR also punished Ryden Lapcevich, Treyten’s brother (who was driving the CBR entry and was not involved in the fight). Ryden was fined $500 and placed on probation until the end of the 2017 season.
Other penalties
The punishments went beyond their contention. A post-race battle between drivers Brad Houseright and Chad Burrow, with one driver left with blood. Both were fined $250 and placed on probation until the end of 2017. Burrow’s federal partners, Ryan Burrow and Dylan Jenks, were also each fined $500 and placed on probation until the end of 2017. Unlike the Bryant/Heim deal, no one was suspended for this collision.

In all, seven other people were fined and two of these two were suspended.
On his podcast; Detrimental actionsHamlin called the CBR team members that Heim “f****** cowards” taking the exit with how they went around the corner and the last Brickyard to meet the 800 NASCAR winner once he was isolated from the rest of his team.
