Head coach David Braun and the Northern Wildcats made an unmistakable statement on Friday night, opening the recently renovated Ryan Field with a resounding 34-13 victory over the Penn State Nittany Lions. It marked Northwestern’s first home win against Penn State since 2015, starting the sweep in Evanston.

An ecstatic Braun didn’t hold back his emotion after the final whistle, giving Northwestern fans a shout for the rest of the season.
“All praise to our players, all glory to God… The place is electric right now,” Braun said. “Why not us? It’s fun to find us, but it’s fun to take it one game at a time. But there’s no doubt we can beat anybody on our schedule and be beaten by anybody on our schedule, just take it one game at a time.”

Northwestern’s confidence helped Braun dominate every inch of the field, especially in the trenches.
