Si Woo Kim knows all the pressures in his career. He has won 21 players in the Championship. Kim also won a gold medal in the team competition at the 2023 Asian Games, earning a vacation from military service in South Korea.
“I still fear you.” [expletive]”Si Woo Kim told The Associated Press’ Doug Ferguson in March of his Asian Games win.

But Si Woo Kim will face a new kind of pressure on Sunday at the DP World Tour’s Genesis Championship at Woo Jeong Hills CC in Cheonan, South Korea. It is one thing to overcome internal pressure. But to attract other people, for the house, that is the pressure that can be weakened.
“Last year I thought I was OK, but the pressure was super,” Kim told the DP World Tour this week. He never won in Korea. So I want to conquer evil. I had so much pressure last year. I think this year will be better, but there will still be a lot of fans from home. So I’m excited to play, but I also really want to win.”
Kim did her best this week just to put herself in a position to be a hero to her country – to accomplish something close to her heart.
He opened with rounds of 67, 69 and 67 to sit at 10 under through three rounds, as the three-shot pace was set by Yuto Katsuragawa.

At the 2019 Open Championship at Royal Portrush, Rory McIlroy shed tears as his strongest charge came up short in front of his home crowd.
“As much as I came here at the beginning of the week saying this is what I wanted to do, you know, by the end of the round today I was going to play there as much for them as for me,” McIlroy said after his cut short charge to the 2019 Open Championship at Royal Portrush. “I wanted to be here this weekend. I wanted to feel the support for two days. Today to play in front of those crowds and feel the moment and really dig in, it’s going to be tough to get through.”
Try to capture the house, because the people who support you and represent where you come from can weaken. Nothing can overwhelm the scene.
British soccer star Wayne Rooney has been putting incredible pressure on the home team for years. When the World Cup drought was going on in Britain, Rooney was expected to drive them through the line and give the whole country a chance.

“Going into the tournament thinking if England won this tournament I won them,” Rooney said in a documentary about his career.
“That was a lot of pressure for me to act,” Rooney said. “I tried to hide a lot over the years and I tried to remove the pressure from my teammates, almost not to show, but deep down, what was always in my head.” I always thought, I think, a lot of the time you see mistakes on the pitch or like a red card, whatever, bad results, that’s probably just me holding everything and trying to do too much sometimes.”
On Sunday, Si Woo Kim will put pressure on himself and work hard to make it through with the rest of the field and earn the memory he has wanted for so long. He knows he must climb the mountain on Sunday. He knows that as the day progresses and the purpose comes into view, he will have his mind wandering to what it is, and he will try not to disturb himself too much.
“It’s going to be a dream come true,” Kim said Saturday of potentially winning on Sunday. “I’ve never won in Korea when I was a pro… I think it’s going to be really good.
“This is going to give me goosebumps.”
