Phoenix Sunnyslope basketball senior center Darius Wabbington, who helped the Vikings capture the Division I state basketball championship last season, announced his commitment to Indiana on social media.
He posted a photo of himself on the 10th wearing an Indiana Hoosiers uniform and on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
Wabbington, 6-foot, had narrowed his colleges to Indiana, Illinois and Arizona.

Sunnyslope coach Ray Portela said the Indians coaches started making big moves on Wabbington over the summer.
“He came out of Indiana,” Portela said. “They were here first thing in the morning. They and UofA made it a good thing to see.
“But his visit was well done. He felt comfortable there. Playing with his technique in the offense.”
Sunnyslope Vikings center Darius Wabington (21) looks to pass the ball against the Basha Bears during their semifinal game at Chaparral High School in Scottsdale on March 4, 2026.
Wabbington’s versatility at center makes him effective on the perimeter and downfield. His game evolved from a 3-point shooter to dominating the paint. He is also an excellent defender and passer who can take over games.

Last season, he averaged 17.2 points and 9.4 rebounds for the Vikings, who were ranked among the top 10 teams in the nation all year.
“When there’s a mismatch and a transition, it can humiliate people, and that’s okay,” said Portela. “It is much better to fix both 3 and move his station, suffering low. And he is the best passer.”
