Cardinales on My Time is back for the winter, with a slightly different concept! With the offseason and winter very uncertain and the Cardinals sitting in an awkward position, I decided to take the opportunity to expand my podcast a little.

Since I have been writing everything to St. Louis the Cardinal for the last several times, my attention has been very much lost regarding the league and it cannot be done. Rather than just reading through articles or trying to find new podcasts, I decided to bring my outside talent and then share it with those who are in the same boat. I’m lucky enough to do what’s called by millions, which is where I’ll be in front of LIVESTREAM hosting my podcasts before I release them later on the normal platforms.

In my millions debut, I’m joined by Jessica Kleinschmidt who previously covered MLB.com and NBC Sports. During our conversation, I quickly realized that he was the perfect person to discuss the impending winter of business and hearings. Jessica declared her professional CBA, it was great to hear news from someone with links to players and owners, while also discussing what could happen this winter.

CBA talks are going to be an interesting place in the MLB offseason

We actually covered a lot but really wanted to get things done for both the A’s and the Cardinals. The more Jessica talked, the more it seemed like the teams were sitting at a similar point in building for the future. The Cardinals obviously have Chaim Bloom as a POBO, but yesterday it also appears that their own POBO athlete, Taylor Smith, who had similar stock to Bloom, will probably do what we saw in St. Louis.

When we talked about the CBA, we got into what the lockout wants for the 40-man fringe players and the Rule 5 draft. Jessica and I have both been struck by the Rule 5 stories and hope to continue the process in some capacity, but it will be interesting to see how teams around the league handle player protections during the 40-man deadline. The deal is likely news with many player vs. owner conversations going on in addition to the salary cap commercials we’re already seeing in the broadcast game.

Finally, Jessica teased that she would dive deeper into her Athletics coverage in some capacity, but she just couldn’t announce the full details just yet. In the end, I’m glad we branched out from the same Cardinals talkback we hear every week and look at something more about MLB. If you enjoy the episode, please like, comment, and/or post on your favorite platform!

On Thursday at 6pm, I’ll have Michael Watson’s Double Bowl in the Millions and expect Guru Kareem Haq to help me lead the conversation. I’ll post a link to that stream on my social media, but if you’re a million followers, you’ll be notified when we go live.

I hope you have all the best in the near future. Thanks for hanging out with me!
