The Lakers will hire Will Iger, the son of new co-owner Bob Iger, as the next G League announcer

The Los Angeles Lakers have a new announcer for their G League affiliate. Fans would recognize his nickname.

Will Iger, the son of late Lakers co-owner Bob Iger, will take over the coaching duties of the Coachella Valley Lakers, the team announced Thursday. He will work as a commentator and green color, who won three NBA titles during his playing career with the Lakers.

The senior Iger bought his stake in the Lakers’ majority stake from venture capitalist Joshua Kushner at a valuation of $12.5 billion less than three months ago.

You can see a sample of Igeri’s smaller work below from his Instagram account.

Through the Lakers, Will Iger has worked for several closings in recent years, including for the G League’s Austin Spurs, San Antonio FC of the second-tier USL soccer league, and both Columbia and Hofstra. Graduated from the University of Texas-Augustin in 2025.

The sale of the Lakers to Kushner and Iger was reported in August, when the pair acquired a majority stake in the team from owner Mark Walters, amid a series of financial and legal difficulties for the billionaire. The couple was able to end up on the entire team, as they made an offer for the Buss family’s remaining high school pledge that each brother wants to take, except for team captain Jeanie Buss. How it worked is now a matter of judgment.

The sale was still pending, but in October it was reported that Walters and Kushner, who are covering most of the purchase price, had reached an agreement on all outstanding terms of the sale. Next up will be the NBA review, followed by votes by the league’s board of directors.
