Last month I ranked all 30 MLB jobs. It so happens that the teams I ranked in the top four spots – the Brewers, the Dodgers, the Rays and the Rangers – have four teams left in the tournament bracket at press time.
I wish I was Nostradamus and fixed the four LCS teams one month ago, but the reality is that a bit of random events happen at the intersection of process and luck. A good front office process tends to lead to good teams and playoff byes, and good teams and playoff byes tend to lead to pennant runs. At this time it was more chalky than usual; out of eight complete series, seven parts are separated. All four teams advanced to byes, so I’ve been hearing the odd story that byes were bad this year, and I ended up picking four teams bye as the first four jobs before. But all of this made me think that this would be a good time to wrap up the front office series, going a little deeper into the three key communities that I have chosen.
