UFC White House: Topuria vs. Gaethje preview

Topuria, 29, has a black belt in BJJ and has a different arsenal to defeat an opponent. Of those 17 wins, eight came by submission, seven were by knockout, and two victories came on scorecards. seven triumphs by surrender, six out of eight triumphs saw him beating the enemy. Topuria won the UFC Featherweight Title in February 2024 from Alexander Volkanovski and then lost it to Max Holloway in Oct. He defended the 2024 win before dropping the belt to lightweight.

Topuria defeated Carlos Oliveira in the heavyweight division at UFC 317 in June 2025 to claim the vacant UFC Lightweight Championship. That made him the 10th overall two-weight UFC champion and the first to claim multiple belts while remaining undefeated. Pontius enters the UFC White No. 2 in the bantamweight rankings, and while Gaethje has reached, Topuria has the young. Check out Sportsline to see Vithlani’s picks and analysis.

Gaethje, 37, has an amateur wrestling career as he was a NCAA All-American in Northern Colorado, but he made a splash in MMA with his talent. Of his 27 wins, 20 came by knockout, with just one coming by submission. However, he showed his recent ability to go the distance and win over the judges, with four of his five victories coming by way of trial. That includes the last fight in the month of Jan. 2026 at UFC 324 with Gaethje defeating Paddy Pimblett via unanimous decision, winning the title in a lightweight process.

That made Gaethje the first two-time interim champion in UFC history and also the oldest fighter to win the UFC Lightweight title. He also held the ceremonial ‘BMF’ belt and earned a good 10 Fight Night record. That’s tied for the most in the promotion’s history, and Gaethje will make his 11th effort using his length advantage on Sunday. At 5-foot-11, Topuria is four inches taller, with a three-inch leg advantage. You can read and see UFC White House analysis on SportsLine.

UFC Freedom 250 predictions

One of Vithlani’s UFC White House picks: Steve Garcia back (+135) to pull off an upset of Diego Lopi (-160) in a tight fight to open the card. Garcia hasn’t lost in the IRC in nearly four years, and six of seven of those stretch fights have seen a knockout victory. Meanwhile, Lopes has lost two of his last three fights and is dropping 2.5 inches on Garcia.

“Garcia is an intimidating striker who uses a striking machine, Muay Thai style and heavy front pressure effectively. In a seven-fight sweep, Garcia has dropped many opponents and broken their hearts early,” Vithlani told SportsLine. “… I can see Garcia’s clumsy and aggressive style giving Lopes trouble. Garcia bounced back from a lower-level opponent in 2022, but the weight cut and health aren’t right going into that fight. If Garcia can take Lopes’ best shot, I think he can get ahead in a good fight. Let’s see who else gets back here.
