The US women’s national team has been putting together devices for a pair of friends for years at the party. The team will take it in of Spain in the October international window, and head coach Emma Hayes named a 26-player squad. The list of 2024 Olympic gold medalists joins, in the form of NWSL players, and the first name -ups.
He stole the lake around the camp North Carolina Hearts onwards Ashley Sanchez. Penner recently matched the league record for goals scored (20) in a single season after changing positions at the club. There are also three first time ups on the roster. The team will meet for the first time in June and try to build a split against the series Brazil. The 2026 FIFA World Cup has been extended over the summer, and now the season is here, the team’s chance to measure themselves against the world’s best. The Games also ran as a final for the Concacaf W Championship, World Cup Regional and Olympic qualifiers.
“While we are very much looking forward to playing the World Cup, I go back to the journey because we are all in this together,” said Hayes. “This camp will be almost a link to restore after a long break, watching some players who have not been with us in this cycle, and we can put on the best performances in front of packed stadiums. Of course, our dual focus will also be on the final preparation for the World Cup qualifying tournament.”
Back in the lineup are defender Naomi Girma and midfielder Sam Coffey. Girma has been managing an injury and is yet to make his debut with Chelsea FC this season, although Hayes revealed he sustained a knock in training on Tuesday and could withdraw from the squad. Coffey, meanwhile, worked his way into the minutes Manchester city from minor knee surgery in mid-May.
Mallory Swanson returned from maternity leave in June, although she did not play in the summer series. She recently returned from a hip injury with the Chicago Stars. A big change is his position in the roster: Swanson, who worked prominently as the third Hayes “prefers to attack the trio”, “triple espresso” is now listed as a midfielder for these camps.

Sanchez ‘fulfilling her potential’
Sanchez’s lights-out form was as compelling an argument as any for a return to the national team, something Hayes noted after commending the player for a strong season in the NWSL.
“I think Ashley has had an extraordinary season, not only in terms of the number of those goals scored, but I think the consistency in performance,” Hayes said in Tuesday’s press conference. “I think she is worthy of the one who is based on the story of this season. I didn’t see the last season or the season before that I think she has taken a big step towards her and I think at the stage of her career, I know for sure she doesn’t want to waste the opportunities that are in front of her. I think that the experience she has – this is a player who is always tipped for big things, as a young national team in her career, she certainly doesn’t want to lose the opportunities that are in front of her. The story of Sanchez standing was part of the reason that young players like Jaedyn Shaw and Partner Sentnor prefer to play with the U-23 national team during the upcoming international break, as well as to make the match play more time, but because the competition for minutes in the attack is as sharp as ever. The U-23 roster will be named on Wednesday and the current training camp with the senior squad will begin at the national training center on Oct. 6.
“As I have said many times, I want to prioritize the development of players and less experienced players always sit on the bench and do not want to play a few minutes, so for Socio and Jaeydn, the plan for them to go to. [U-]23s, Hayes said. “They are still central to our plans but also, I think with Ashley Sanchez performing the way he has and Trinity Byars the way they are performing, it is a local competition and I have spoken to both of them. They understand the importance of their development.
Hayes continued to focus on development
Four players made the cut without a catch, three of whom are newcomers to the national team in Byars, Litora and Tordin. Much like Sanchez’s recall, the players deserved the prize for their impressive play in the league at their level.
“I think Peter Tordin has been exceptional this year,” Hayes said. “It’s true. Hayes is keeping her tabs close to her chest on the trio’s ability to crack the Women’s World Cup squad next summer, but believes time with the senior national team in October will be valuable for each player’s development.
“You can’t always park the growth of the generation that is coming tomorrow, so if it only prioritizes the World Cup, then I’m not taking the opportunity of players who could and will have an impact on this team in 2028 or 2031,” Hayes said. “I think” [Shores] He is a player that I think can grow in the program.
