As the 2026 MLB season comes to an end, it’s time for an award. On Sunday, MLB announced the 20 Gold Glove recipients with many big names and new faces taking home the hardware.
The Golden Globe, which honors the best defensive players in the league, is awarded to one player for each position in the two leagues. This year’s honorees numbered ninety first-time winners, nearly half of the entire field.
Pete Crow-Armstrong capped off his offseason with his second Gold Glove in two seasons. The Chicago Cubs center fielder, who took home the Gold Glove his first year, won again after putting together one of the best defensive seasons in baseball.

Crow-Armstrong’s dominant batting and 40-40 season made him a strong candidate for NL MVP, but he took the other first piece of hardware.
Crow-Armstrong’s Cubs teammate Alex Bregman, who signed with Chicago last offseason, also earned the honor for the second time in his career.
The Cubs are tied with the Toronto Blue Jays for the most nominations with five Gold Gloves, though only Crow-Armstrong and Bregman end up winning. In an interview with ESPN, Bregman spoke about Chicago’s commitment to the defense.
“I know our team takes a lot of pride on defense, and it’s pretty awesome on the field with a bunch of guys that care about every single thing in the game,” Bregman said.

The Milwaukee Brewers, coming off a World Series-winning run, were represented by two players among the winners: second baseman Jackson Chourio and second baseman Brice Turang. Chourio, who shot to World Series MVP, earned his first Gold Glove award by beating Chicago’s Ian Happ, who had won the award four straight seasons.
The best represented teams were the Boston Red Sox and the Arizona Diamondbacks, who finished with three defense awards each. Red Sox right fielder Wilyer Abreu took home his third straight Gold Glove after another dominant season.
There were some surprising snubs, too, though: Toronto, despite having five nominations, took home no awards after a fairly mediocre season. Neither did the Kansas City Royals, whose four named players included first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino and shortstop Bobby Witt Jr.
