It will take an unprecedented comeback to stop the Milwaukee Brewers from winning their first World Series title. After Monday, the Tampa Bay Rays’ confidence in the job is difficult.
The Brewers beat the Rays 10-1 in Game 3 of the 2026 World Series to take a 3-0 lead. No team has lost 3-0 in the Fall Classic, and it’s only happened once in a seven-game series (the Boston Red Sox in the 2004 ALCS).

Game 4 will take place on Tuesday at 8 pm ET at Tropicana Field, with Milwaukee coming off one of MLB’s winningest teams in the group title.
Thanks to a strong performance from pitcher Robert Gasser and starting bullpen, the Brewers already had enough runs to win the game in the third inning. However, the fifth game – and a very unlikely series – was decided.
The Brewers never forget the fifth inning
Inning theoretically above. With two outs and runners on first and second, William Contreras grounded out to second base. But the Brewers challenged the call to second, and a quick replay review showed that Christian Yelich was pretty safe.

When the overturning call was overturned, it posed one of the most consequential challenges with the MLB system.
That loaded the bases and ejected Tampa Bay starting pitcher — and old Brewer friend — Freddy Peralta after 4 2/3 innings. Cam Booser, the top left-hander in the Rays’ bullpen, came in to face Brice Turang and kept the game at bay.
He didn’t keep the game inside.
Instead, the worst offense in baseball trapped him on the first pitch in three straight at-bats and got an RBI hit with each swing. They then added three more consecutive hits, one against Booser and another two away from Cole Sulser. All with two points.

In the span of 12 pitches from Booser, the night saw a double run game turned in the eighth inning. And then it got even worse after he left.

The Brewers are in the World Series, despite ranking 29th in MLB in home runs during the regular season, and they showed why that doesn’t matter in Game 3. They haven’t been able to hit the long ball as much as MLB’s other top teams, but they won’t go away.
They are the first team to record seven straight hits in a postseason game. Jake Bauers singled in the second out of the inning, then flew out to third. By the end of the inning, every player in the Milwaukee lineup except Bauers had a run and an RBI in the game.

In total, the Brewers outscored the Rays 16-3 over the course of the game. Tampa Bay’s first hit was a leadoff single by Yandy Díaz in the first inning; second and third ninth Everything among themselves: absolutely dominant.
Everything is going to come to Rome
It’s almost a given that Gasser started a six-inning shutout with one hit allowed. In another game, we’re talking about him becoming the first pitcher to go at least six or more innings since Don Larsen in his 1956 complete game.
The Brewers didn’t need to dig into the bullpen, which was done on their sheet. Instead, top weapons Trevor Megill, Aaron Ashby and Abner Uribe all had off nights and will rest when Milwaukee goes for the clinch in Game 4.

An added treat was the appearance of Brandon Woodruff to pitch the ninth, returning after what was supposed to be a season-ending shoulder injury in July. The Rays only allowed a run on an RBI double by Díaz.
Milwaukee is now 10-1 this season, and notably, no starting pitcher on either side is heading into the seventh inning. Only two pitchers — Gasser on Monday and Blake Snell of the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 of the NLCS — recorded in the sixth inning.
That does two things. One of the Brewers’ bullpens has been that good, with a 1.34 ERA in 53 2/3 innings across the board. The second is that the Brazilian lineup, which more than any other team in baseball walks, takes the bases and hits the strings offensively, has some of the best pitchers in baseball.

Robbie Ray, Michael King, Tarik Skubal, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Drew Rasmussen, Peralta. None lasted more than five innings. He set nothing on winning.
This Brewers team has been the engine of this season, and Monday was their masterpiece. They have now won 113 games between the regular season and the series and need one more to reduce the number of MLB teams to less than four titles.
Tampa Bay, in all probability, will remain one of those teams, along with the San Diego Padres, Colorado Rockies and Seattle Mariners, although this one has its third trip to the World Series.

Robert Gasser becomes the first Brewer’s pitcher this season to get an out in the sixth inning, and he gets all three. It still held up a little, thanks to the double play, and is now at 75 voices.
