HOMESTEAD, Fla. — Retired NASCAR Cup Series driver Carson Hocevar will speak to the media Friday at Homestead-Miami Subaqua.
NASCAR released its weekly availability schedule on Tuesday, showing that Hocevar will be available starting at 2:30 pm ET for the track’s media coverage.

Hocevar will not be running for the final time this Sunday at 1.5 miles south of Florida. Spire Motorsports suspended him for the race during their activities at Martinsville Speedway. Co-owner Jeff Dickerson made it clear that his actions did not reflect Spire’s values and standards and that their integrity was at stake following the incident.
Hocevar broke in the second race at Martinsville, checking multiple drivers of the time. His actions caused Austin Cindric to run into his back multiple times while running after him, causing serious damage and ending his day.
This happened after Hocevar was running under a green flag and brought out a caution. What you put at the start is where his actions are explained.
Denny Hamlin and Dale Earnhardt Jr. spoke on Hamlin’s podcast and had words for Hocevar, calling him out on his actions. Hamlin approached Hocevar and asked him to generate new fans and attention, saying that someone had to do something about him, but the drivers with the new culture around the Cup Series racing could not.

Hamlin also contrasted his racing style in the Cup Series now vs. he came into the sport in 2006 when Earnhardt was still racing full-time.
He previously described Hamlin Spire as “out of sorts.”
Hocevar has had records with Zane Smith, Brad Keselowski, Ryan Blaney and others. He was fined after the Chicagoland Underwater race in July for an incident with Smith. The feud flared last month when Smith crashed into the back of a car after finishing a race at Phoenix Raceway. NASCAR fined Smith $50,000 for it.
NASCAR fined Hocevar over the Martinsville incident. They fined him $100,000 and landed him 25 driver points. That knocked him 13 in the points and puts him in danger of finishing last – 16th – in the final standings after looking at the possibility of a top-10 finish in the standings for the first time in his Cup career.

NASCAR also penalized Josh Berry for similar actions against Ryan Blaney later in the race. Berry was fined $50,000 and landed with 25 driver’s points.
With Hocevar at Homestead-Miami this weekend, Justin Haley will fill in for him. Haley previously returned to Spire Motorsports and also earned the team’s first Cup win – the Daytona International Underwater in July of 2019.
