Dan Hooker explains how the UFC ‘f*cked up’ the BMF title?

Dan Hooker doesn’t believe the likes of Carlos Oliveira are involved in the BMF title picture.

After Max Holloway delivered a last second knockout for centuries to take the BMF title from Justin Gaethje, he was later upset by Oliveira who dominated on the ground. Oliveira was heavily criticized for his performance, but Hooker doesn’t want to see these top contenders compete for the BMF belt.

Hooker (24-15 MMA, 14-11 UFC) prefers the inaugural Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz concept and his fight against Brian Ortega (16-5 MMA, 8-5 UFC) on Nov. 21. at UFC Fight Night 294 prefers the type of matchup that fits the criteria.

“It was cool for a while and then it kind of became not cool,” Hooker told Submission Radio. “I think it killed him. … You know where they f*cked him? He had to have like Nate Diaz-Masvidal kind of sh*t. They absolutely f*cked it when they were like – he had badass motherf*ckers fighting for him like that, but then there had to be guys willing to destroy and talk like s*t, like too. That was my kind, Bobby BMF, and Green, like he was still, BMF, like also contending.

“Then Max did it, and he’s like the nicest guy in the f*cking world. It’s, talk sh*t! You say you knock the other guy’s head off. That was like our belt. That was the guys whose achievements are a f*cking mess. Gamebred’ was hot and cold for a minute, Nate Diaz, all our records are af*cking our mess. Bright, world one. That’s what I’m saying.

Oliveira (37-11 MMA, 25-11 UFC) defends his BMF title against Diego Lopes (28-8 MMA, 7-3 UFC) in the UFC 335 headliner on December 12 in Las Vegas. He explains why he’s OK with former title challenger Lopes being part of the equation.

“For some reason, the diamonds are stuck in this BMF belt and he just grabs another belt, but yeah, I like the fight,” said Hooker. “I feel like Diego Lopes is a strong contender for that. As he says, he doesn’t feel like he’s going to have another crack at Volk.”
