Brandon Figueroa lost his World Boxing Association title at flyweight Friday when the American failed to make weight for Saturday’s bout against Tomoki Kameda of Japan, organizers said.
The fight will be contested in Las Vegas with Kameda set to take the crown of victory and the vacant title if he defeats Figueora.

Figueroa, a former world super bantamweight champion, enters the fight 27-2 with one lead and 20 knockouts while Kameda is 42-5 with 23 knockouts.
Figueroa, 29, dropped 1.4 pounds from the 126-pound (57.1kg) weight limit and returns the title he took from Britain’s Nick Ball last February without ever defending.
Kameda, 35, was the 2013 and 2014 World Boxing Organization bantamweight champion and has not fought since May 2025 when he lost the title fight to United States International Boxing Federation champion Angel Leo.
“It’s unfair,” Kameda said through an interpreter. “I’ve suffered too. I’ve done my thing. I’m ready tomorrow. It’s been 18 months since I fought. Look how strong I am. I’m ready.
“The plan remains the same. With that title.”
