Dr. Kapur Springs 24-1 Perryville Upset
Named after the surgeon who performed the kidney transplant for Mr. Ken Ramsey, Dr. Kapur earned his first stakes win Saturday, a clear margin by a neck in the Perryville (G3) at Keeneland. The 3-year-old McKinzie chick was bred by Tyler Gaffalione for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.

“(Agrico’s Tyler Gaffalione) followed orders perfectly. I mean, everything that rushes there, unless it’s our chance, they had a firefight, and here he came up the middle of the track. I saw him coming and I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, if he gets there.’ Seven stages is what (Dr. Kapur) needs. Here I want to thank my husband, (family member) Papa Tom. This is the guy who gave me a kidney. My kidney function was down to 8%. He donated a kidney to me, and now it is 84 (%). I’ve got the ren of teenager. Here is the reason why. I went, simple as that. I’m trying to live to 100 or die,” Ken Ramsey said.
