Jackson Chourio Does It Again: Brewers Come Back to Win Game 2

They opened the roof. That’s the first thing you need to know about Game 2 of the NLDS between the Milwaukee Brewers and the San Diego Padres. No one was worried about the beating of the ball belt or the wire or the catwalk or the dangling chain of sausage links hanging from the ceiling. More importantly, no one was worried about the damn thing in the bottom of the ninth, when Jackson Chourio, one of the batters in the loss, turned in a 10-mph Mason Miller fastball for the game-winning, two-RBI single. Against the heaviest reliever in baseball, after pulling from the fourth batter of the game, the Brewers hit the water well, beating the Padres 4-3 to take a series lead. It marked the first time in more than a month that the Padres have lost two games in a row.

American Family Field presents quite a beautiful setting, with the sky open and full of natural light. He feels alive and lives. It is also not the most friendly place for hits that force you to transfer your cares from the roof to the shadows. The 3:09 PM local time signaled the start of the season when Logan Henderson took the first pitch of the game, his shadow, now much longer than the six-foot-tall plate, extending all the way across the mound and onto the grass field toward third base. He was twitching and twisting in the tradition, as if he believed that he could escape this once and for all.

No player was more popular in the open air than Ty Gaul, who experienced a more hostile side of the American Family field on Saturday night. As you probably know by now, Gallia ricocheted off a ricochet into deep left field, somewhere else on the roof up there. There is some debate as to whether that ball and the fence would remain clean and beautiful, but regardless, France would certainly settle for a man with a score. He went 2-for-3 with two RBI attempts and a hit-by-pitch, bringing his batting average this season to a respectable .487.
