Ateba Gautier’s Exit Statement After Upset TKO Loss at UFC 332

UFC middleweight prospect Ateba Guatier has issued a statement following his upset TKO loss against Roman Kopylov at UFC 332.

In what was the only upset of the night on a card filled with dominant talent, Gautier lost for the first time in the UFC when veteran Kopylov knocked him out in the first round.

The loss drops Gautier’s UFC record to 5-1, and 11-2 overall in his MMA career.

Ateba Gautier Exit Statement on UFC 332 Loss

Taking to his social media for UFC 332, Gautier issued a lengthy statement about his first loss inside the Octagon.

“Hey everyone. I just wanted to take a moment to let you know that I’m doing well, especially to everyone who was worried about me and sent me messages last night. Last night was simply not our night. All due respect to my opponent. He was better than me last night and I’m afraid. Of course I’m wrong. I wanted to win, like always. I set myself a goal,” Gautier wrote on his Instagram.

“We will be grateful to everyone who sent me messages of support and emotions. I read your letters, even if I can’t answer everyone, and believe me, they mean a lot to me. As they say in the joke: sometimes you make highlights… and sometimes you shine. And I thank those who celebrate my loss. I understand that all this is a defeat that teaches me, but I know that it is part of my story.

Responding to Gautier’s news, Kopylov shared this comment with his UFC 332 opponent.

“Thank you for the fight. I was happy to share the cage with you, only the best on your part,” wrote Kopylov.

For Kopylov, taking the top prospect to win Gautier’s huge run, having won two straight fights now inside the Octagon, after winning a decision over Marcus Tullius in the last round.

As for Gautier, this was a difficult loss, but he is still only 24 years old. He has all the power in the world to get back on the horse and get back in the train to win.
