“This is not the end of Kyle’s story,” Samantha said. “These stories continue every time we give a young runner an opportunity, something that he taught us or we share with the next generation that made the memory of the fight.”
Kyle died at the age of 41 on May 21 after severe pneumonia developed into sepsis.
“I never fully understood what this game meant until we lost it,” Samantha continued. “The races were going, the cars were running the tracks, but our world had stopped. I didn’t know how we would find our way without him. But then you showed us all. You came to Brexton to the races. You worshiped Kyle at every race across the country and shared what he wanted for you.”

During the ceremony, Braxton paid tribute to his father by doing a burnout at the race track, later getting out of his father’s car No. 8 going up and going up on his roof. Facing a cheering crowd, Brexton took a bow standing on top of the car, recreating her father’s signature post-birth gesture.

“The love that has surrounded our family at this time has brought us incredible comfort in the midst of so much pain,” he wrote on Instagram in June. “Knowing the impact Kyle had on others and seeing how they honor him through a singular act of generosity is a true testament to how special Kyle is to so many people. Sometimes when it feels like the weight of this loss can’t be taken, yet again and again God through you all of us are not alone.”
Ahead of Friday’s event, Samantha took to Instagram to express what a celebration of life it was.
“I really want this to be a night where the entire NASCAR community can come together to celebrate Kyle, his life, and the legacy he leaves behind in the sport we’ve built around our lives,” Samantha captioned the video posted on Friday, Oct. 2.
She continues, “It’s an opportunity for everyone to share memories, hear from some of the unique energy speakers inside, see his car and trophies, and celebrate everything that made Kyle who he was. We’ll also have paint, country music, and more.”
