Welcome to the Minor League Update. The minor league season involves playoff action. Because of the hunger for games, this will cover the whole week, and close the season before the winter leagues return. Here’s who made waves this week;
Hitter of the Week
Vance Honeycutt, OF, Baltimore Orioles (AFL Peoria); 3-5, 4 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 5 BB, SB.
A former first-round pick with potential plus speed and power, Honeycutt has worked as a professional, hitting almost 40% of his at-bats since his debut in 2024. A brief glimmer of hope faded at the end of the season after being promoted to Double-A Chesapeake. It’s a small sample, but in 20 friendly games at Honeycutt East, his K-rates have washed out somewhat and he’s hitting a much better .288/.381/.616. The hot bat has followed him into the desert and if he can carry the earnings development into 2027, Honeycutt may finally turn into a hitter.
