Carson Hocevar gave his honest opinion about the multi-car crash that led NASCAR’s race in the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas City on Sunday, but Hocevar and Brad Keselowski gave different explanations Sunday for the Stage 2 wreck that collected six cars at Kansas Speedway.

The crash blindsided the Chase field where every playoff driver had run inside the top 13 and revived questions about the rivalry at Darlington three weeks earlier.

Trouble immediately followed as Noah Gragson fired a shot and brought out his third save of the day. NASCAR fielded with 44 laps left in Stage 2, and Hocevar, running near the front in No. 77 Chevrolet, was released immediately.

He shot right, made contact, then shot across the track and collected Bubba Wallace, Ty Gibbs, Josh Berry, Erik Jones and Zane Smith.

Asked what he saw at the start and whether he felt contact from behind, Hocevar did not show his fingers.

“Yes, I felt the touch from the whole, honestly. I don’t know. Everyone was trying to go to the middle because it seems to be the perfect spot. Yes, I remember, I don’t know if I tried to fill that hole because everyone was trying to merge, but yeah,” Hocevar said in a video posted by NASCAR insider Bob Pockrass.

Hocevar knew his car was finished before the smoke even cleared.

“Yeah. Not much fun, Bob,” he said of the Chevrolet wreck.

Now comes the question that matters the most – does he think Keselowski is triggered? But Hocevar took the high road.

“No, I don’t think so. No. If anything I felt like we were trying to merge — anyone was right,” Hocevar said.

Hocevar finished 33rd after three laps. His plan for Las Vegas next weekend, he said, was simple.

“It doesn’t crash when we run fourth. Therefore, we don’t crash,” he said.

James Small, Chase Briscoe’s crew chief, told Briscoe over the radio that Keselowski got into Hocevar on the restart and the No. 77 got loose and crashed. USA Broadcasting Network’s Steve Letarte and Jeff Burton raised the same question live from the booth.

Keselowski said he barely realized the No. 77 wreck behind him.

“Yeah, I know. I gave him the skin, and then they started wrecking my right. I didn’t know what happened,” Keselowski said in a separate video posted by Pockrass.

Spotter TJ Majors said it was called the nation’s biggest move, Keselowski relied on it.

“Well, it was. I went from 13th to 10th, or whatever it was. So we got a lot of track position there. Unfortunately, you lost the back when we pitted on the road. But I was really pleased with our speed today. We were running really strong,” he said.

Another acquaintance explained what happened three weeks ago at the D south of Darlington, where Hocevar Keselowski crashed into a wall. Keselowski later did not hide his anger, warning Hocevar that “his day is coming” and to “watch” the second. On3‘s Jamie Oakes.

Keselowski finished 12th at Kansas, and Wallace recovered to ninth, according to Jayski race results.

Kyle Larson took the checkered flag, sweeping both stages and running 235 of 267 laps ahead of Chase Briscoe with seven laps to go, according to the Associated Press. Austin Cindric finished second, Denny Hamlin third.

The game will cross the field next Sunday in Las Vegas, with Darlington and Kansas both fresh out between Hocevar and Keselowski.
