Although Dumonts sold his shares, Adelson is still very much attached to the Mavericks. Patrick Dumont, who served as the Mavericks’ manager when the family bought the team from Mark Cuban in 2023, is Adelson’s son-in-law. Sivan is Adelson’s daughter.

“It’s really about time for investment in the city of Dallas,” Dumont told ESPN on Tuesday. “The Dumont family is building what we hope is the best arena in the NBA, a significant investment in the city that will help create a new 40-year home for the Dallas Mavericks, our great fan base and our team’s desire to win championships. That’s really what we’re aiming for. We had the opportunity and we’re really excited about it.”

Cuban Maverick sold Adelson at a $3.5 billion valuation in 2023, although he still retains a 27% stake in the company. It is because he confessed that he regretted selling Adelson and Dumont to the Mavericks at first, especially after the Dumonts and Adelson pushed him out of the basketball and business teams from the operations side. The Cubans’ comments came in the wake of the Luka Doncic trade drew a strong backlash from Mavericks fans and it resulted in a team overhaul.

Dumont, who is the CEO of Las Vegas Sands, may purchase another 20% share of the team from Cuban in the future at the same valuation, which he said he would do.

“I’ll just tell you, I love Mark. He’s been a really great family man for a long time,” Dumont said. “He’s just a super passionate Mavs fan and he’s frustrated. I’m in awe of him. We’re going to hopefully make him proud. That’s my goal — to make all of our Mavs fans proud of the team’s success and win the championship.”

The Mavericks are expected to open a new arena at Valley View Mall located in north Dallas in the coming yearand the hope of having a new business job and the opportunity to attend. Dumont oversaw the construction of the Blues Arena in Macao, which is home to the NBA’s preseason games in the country.

The Mavericks have played at the American Airlines Center since 2001, and hope to move into the new arena in time for the 2031-32 campaign.

“I think what we’re bringing to Dallas is going to be world class.” “My goal is to make the best arena in the NBA. It starts from the court and spreads outward, and I want to make it the best experience for the fans, because we owe it to them.”

The Mavericks now hold a 4-3 record entering their matchup with the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night. They haven’t been in the playoffs since making their way to the NBA Finals with Doncic in 2024, and they just went 26-56 last season.
