There are five to know on Wednesday
- The NBA Finals will make you sleep tonight. We made it to the final season series. The Spurs and Knicks open the finals tonight in San Antonio, and 10 most important to us the same storylines that will determine which squad takes home the Larry O’Brien Trophy. Since things go further than X’s and O’s, we’ve also taken a deep dive as both teams were built — And why their rostral construction would be impossible to replicate. History will repeat itself and bring down the New York Spurs as they did in 1999? Or it will be surprisingly unlikely Knicks snap championship drought that enjoys 1973? We’ll find out starting tonight at 8:30 pm ET.
- The Golden Knights hold a 1-0 lead in the Stanley Cup Final. It took just 25 seconds for the Hurricanes to draw first blood when Nikolaj Ehlers netted the fastest goal in Game 1 since 1976. But Vegas flipped the contest on its head with three straight scores, and with 3:24 to play, Tomas Hertl scored what proved to be the crowd-winner of the game. A 5-4 victory puts the Golden Knights in the driver’s seat and flips home-ice advantage. Here is the rest of the schedule.
- Drake London and Nick Herbig agreed to massive contract extensions. The two are linked around the key assets to close the firm. London and the Falcons agreed to a deal one of the NFL’s highest-paid receiversWhile Herbig was on the line to earn $100 million likely to step up into a full-time starting role with the Steelers. Atlanta shouldn’t happen, by the way, with Bijan Robinson and Kyle Pitt waiting for lucrative extensions.
- FIFA has confirmed the 48 World Cup rosters. The roster has passed the submission deadline of June 1, and FIFA confirmed the squad yesterday to set the stage for Kickoff. Now that we all know who will be taking the field later this month, here are some quick facts. This will be the first time the oldest World Cup on record with Cristiano Ronaldo headlining players aged 40 or older. It is also a a record number of Fusce players in the field this year, and none more noble than Lionel Messi. See other superlatives like us I will destroy the groups in numbers. Finally, our World Cup power rankings Feature in two changes following the announcement of the numbers and recent events of the song.
- Texas and Texas Tech begin their battle for the softball title tonight. Only two teams remain in the Women’s College World Series, and both hail from the Lone Star State. There are also the exact two teams that squared off in the finals last year. The concern is in the championship series; which opens tonight at 8 pm ET * and pit the reigning champion Longhorns against NiJaree Canady and the contending Red Raiders.

There are only two signature events left on the PGA Tour calendar this year. The first of those hours is just a few hours away as the story begins tomorrow morning in the 50th MEMORIAL GAME. Scottie Scheffler He is the two-time reigning champion and is aiming to become the 17th player in Tour history to complete the triple-A, and you can knock him off the mark when the third and fourth rounds air Saturday and Sunday on CBS and Paramount.
Scheffler boasts of winning the shortest odds in memory. Our Patrick McDonald is not thinking about things. It takes the world no. 1 to win for the third year in a row
- McDonald’s: “As is often the case with Scheffler, if he feels like he’s coming to win, then he’s most definitely coming. He came in the next third place at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, where he put it nicely in what was his fourth podium finish in the last five tournaments. Muirfield Village is a lucky hunting ground for the world No. 1 and Scheffler-like will give the right iron of the year.”
Find out who McDonald thinks will be Scheffler’s biggest challenger, and check out the sleeper pick who enters the tournament with 60-1 odds to win.
Winners, losers from regional baseball games

The college baseball postseason is one of my favorite times of the year. The unpredictability of NCAA games is unique, and the 2026 version is already running towards the beginning of the darkest history. If you like distractions, college baseball is the game for you. In the first four days of the tournament we saw no. 1 and no. 2 overall seeds to rush out of the bracket, while Rock and St pulling out two great stunnings every day.
I tabbed UCLA like the biggest food from the regional through after the Bruins became the fifth No. 1 overall seed after the 1999 expansion tournament to fail to reach the upper regional. Furthermore, I will explain why the lower seeded teams were the clear winners.
- Many of the No. 4 seeds won the regional for the first time in their tournament history.
- No. 3 and No. The 4 seeds combined for 14 wins on Friday, good for the second-most on the tournament’s opening day.
- The four No. 4 seeds tied for the most regional finals since 1999.
Super regionals start on Friday, and I’ll be releasing my files for each series tomorrow.
The best (and not so-best) of the rest
