Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis signs 7-fight stretch with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom

Just 24 hours after Shakur Stevenson parted ways with Zuffa Boxing, Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom made sure to extend its US star premiership.

Jaron “Boots” Ennis has signed a multi-year, seven-fight contract extension with Matchroom, the company announced Tuesday. The deal, which runs through the end of 2029, is expected to be worth eight figures.

Ennis (36-0, 32 KOs), a two-division unified world champion, is the WBA and WBO welterweight champion and the crowned No. 8-pound heavyweight boxer. Josh Kelly is expected to fight back against the IBF title in a three-belt unification scheduled for January or February of 2027. It was also announced on Tuesday that Kelly had re-signed with Matchroom.

Ennis, 29, signed his first contract with Matchroom in April of 2024. He then stepped up at 147 pounds against Eimantas Stanionis and firmly established himself as the world No.

Boot earned the most win of his career by stopping Xander Zayas in a six-round shootout at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in June. Ennius willingly gave the place in a mana for a pound.

The American star is now targeting a clear title at 154 pounds, and he’s only two wins away from that. Hearn hopes to make Ennis vs. Kelly in the coming months, with the winner facing WBC champion Sebastian Fundora in a four-belt unification later in 2017.

“I am excited for my extended partnership with Matchroom,” Ennius said. “One of us is balanced in all the right positions that is what I want, and this I doubt!

“The world is going to see why I’m different and why I’m the best fighter in the world! These guys are not on my level! They can’t do what I do! Way to be the undisputed! Way to number one pound for pound best fighter in the world!”
